Following A Decline in Shares During Its New York Launch, Lyntris Is Now Worth $1.8 Billion

New York Launch

In the defense contractor’s fresh York debut on Wednesday, Lyntris’ (LYNX.N) shares dropped 11.4%, pricing the business at $1.78 billion and indicating investor concern around fresh listings.

The Falls Church, Virginia-based company’s shares opened at $15.50, less than the $17.50 IPO price. After trading below the initial marketing range of $19 to $22 per share, the offering was reduced to 17 million shares from 24 million, raising $297.5 million.

While current owners reduced their offering by more than 7.8 million shares, the business sold over 5.7 million shares during the IPO, exceeding its initial plan of approximately 4.9 million shares.

“The market is discounting that this is a capital structure, rather than a venture capital deal,” stated Josef Schuster, CEO of IPOX, an IPO index and research organization with headquarters in Chicago.

Although investors are still picky, the U.S. IPO market has recovered significantly in recent months, bringing entrepreneurs from a variety of industries to the public markets. Many businesses have been forced to reduce their deal sizes as a result of this prudence.

Even if earnings were still high, Schuster added, the decline was a result of investors shifting away from riskier, less experienced businesses like recent initial public offerings (IPOs) in the face of rising U.S. bond yields.

Accelint and Vitesse, two portfolio businesses, were merged by private equity company Trive Capital to become Lyntris, a defense technology supplier that has since expanded through acquisitions.

Lyntris, a manufacturer of battlefield sensors and software for the United States and its allies, is the most recent in a string of military firms that have attempted to list their stock in New York since April in an attempt to take advantage of the opportunity presented by the Iranian conflict.

Since April, Arxis (ARXS.O), AEVEX (AVEX.N), Applied Aerospace & Defense (AADX.N), Doncasters (DPC.N), and HawkEye 360 (HAWK.N) have made their New York debuts.
