Emerging Business in Africa and Major Companies
Come 2026, new kinds of businesses across Africa draw strength from local startups, well-established regional players, alongside partnerships with global companies – changing how growth looks on the continent. During talks at the 2026 Africa Business Forum, it became clear: the African Continental Free Trade Area helps home-based companies move past country lines, linking scattered economies into one network reaching more than 1.5 billion people. Because of this shift, fresh business styles thrive in areas like mobile finance, farm technology, digital art marketplaces, and clean power systems – all supported through private investors, international aid lenders, plus funding hubs within the region.
Now showing up across the region are farming supply firms and tech-driven delivery networks reshaping how goods like cocoa, coffee, and fresh produce move to market. Take young-run ventures in Ethiopia and Côte d’Ivoire – they’re using internet-connected tracking tools alongside phone-based money transfers so family farms can sell straight to international customers without middlemen getting involved. Big players, from global corporations to African-wide business groups, pour funds into these setups via shared projects, ownership shares, and know-how sharing deals, because higher output in farming, transport, and online services could drive the continent’s next phase of expansion.
